작가 머리말

자연의 포식에는 생존만 있을 뿐 악의가 없다. 

반면 인간의 폭력은 생존을 넘어 관습과 편의 속에서 반복되며, 마침내 ‘당연한 일상’의 풍경으로 고착된다. 

그들의 고통은 인간의 언어로 번역되지 않고 통증 또한 감각에 닿지 않으며, 저항할 수 없다는 이유만으로 이 무표정한 폭력은 손쉽게 관성화된다. 

본 작업은 바로 이 매끄러운 폭력의 표면을 기록하는 시도다.

버려진 잔재를 안은 채 슬픔의 주체를 묻는 버드나무의 침묵, 열매를 맺기 전부터 돌의 무게로 휘어짐을 강요받는 사과나무의 비틀림, 

그리고 난도질 된 몸이 안락한 식탁보 위 일러스트와 장식으로 변모하는 접시의 풍경까지. 

폭력은 감춰지는 대신 친절하게 도해 되고 포장된다. 

특히 디지털 AI의 매개는 도살의 피비린내 없이도 소비를 완성하게 만들며, 폭력이 소멸한 것이 아니라 한 겹 더 음험하게 포장되었음을 역설한다.

이 시리즈는 일방적인 고발이 아니다. 

뒤를 돌아보고 주변의 침묵하는 생명들을 향해 잠시 고개를 숙이는 조용한 수행이다. 

우리가 참으로 잊고 있었던 것은 도덕적 죄책감이 아닌, 한때 서로가 깊이 연결되어 있었다는 최소한의 관계성임을 나지막이 상기하고자 한다.

Artist's Note

In nature, predation serves survival without malice. 

Human violence, however, transcends survival—repeated through habit and convenience until it hardens into the background of daily life. 

Their suffering goes untranslated by our language, their pain unfelt by our senses. Unable to resist, they leave this expressionless violence to become normalized. 

This series records the slick surface of that silent mechanism.

From the silent willow embracing human remnants to the young apple tree forced to bend under the weight of stones before bearing fruit, these images capture a enforced distortion. 

On the plate, violence is not hidden but kindly illustrated: severed bodies rendered into decor atop a checkered tablecloth. 

That these images are AI-generated highlights our current reality, we now complete consumption without the smell of slaughter. 

Violence hasn't vanished; it is merely re-packaged.

This work is not an accusation, but a quiet act of turning back to bow before those silent lives. It serves as a subtle reminder that what we lost was not guilt, but connection.
